Desert Salon: Navigating Panic

It’s rough out there. Panic and anxiety are everywhere. Many of us may be trying to find our way through a crisis, or stay afloat long enough to help someone else through.

We’ll be talking through panic/anxiety, sharing strategies, and maybe building a map out of crisis. Resources and inspiration for this topic come mainly from the Fireweed Collective, the latest form of the Icarus Project out of NYC.

  • A somewhat clinical breakdown of the difference between panic and anxiety attacks.

  • Useful ideas and strategies to keep in mind when Navigating Crisis.

  • Mapping our Madness zine: “A workbook for navigating crisis, extreme states, or just foul moods.”

  • A webinar coming up in early March on Mad Maps: “Mad Maps are wellness documents that help us to navigate our emotional terrains, particularly as they relate to issues like oppression and trauma.”

This meeting will be on Zoom so no amount of distance is an obstacle. All are welcome to join us on February 27th at 1:30 PM, PST. Make sure to RSVP for meeting details.

See you soon.

The Desert Salon is not a class: it rejects the roles of teacher and student. The Desert Salon is radical: it rejects the divisions that the world makes between us based on skin, ableism, sex, gender, or class. Past meetings have discussed things as massive as the the Imperialist White-Supremacist Capitalist Heteropatriarchy and as local as water price changes. Being a radical is not a requirement, but you just might be inspired.
